Mogadishu (Asoj.org) Associated Somali Journalists ASOJ said Somaliland administration took a wicked measures aimed at eradicating the independent media from all over its territory

"The sentence against the editor of the Waaheen newspaper, Mohamed Abdi Jama was illegal and act of violation against the press freedom," said Dahir Alasow, the chairman of Asoj

"The editors of all the newspapers and the TVs in Somaliland are hiding and live in constant fear and it is difficult for the independent journalists to operate there," Alasow added.

The Asoj chairman has called the government of Ahmed Siilaanyo for an immediate release of the jailed editor Mohamed Abdi. And in the meantime refrain from oppression, the intimidation and the clear cruelty against the press freedom.

"If the Siilaanyo administration ignores the international calls for press freedom, it will lose the world respect for Somaliland and it will lead to public uprising and violence," said Dahir Alasow
