Associated Somali Journalists (ASOJ) On wedsday accused the Islamist radical group of Al-Shabab of being responsible for the killing of Somalia’s Horn Afrik director Saed Tahlil Ahmed.

"Mogadishu’s Radio stations directors and editors issued several censorship articles which refuses the exageration of the civil conflict and also the media houses agreed to stop live coverage of the press conferences held by the Islamist rebels and support the peace process,"Alasow said in his statement.

He said after the media houses decision, the Al-Shabab spokesman Mokhtar Robow threatened local journalists to death. "the men that carried out the journalist’s killing have been recognized ,"
One of the head masked killers was named as Hussein Farah who escaped after the killing as the members of Al-shabab were with the deceased journalist.

Associared Somali Journalists Chairman Dahir Abdulle Alasow, added that the latest assassination on Horn Afrik’s journalist was an attempt to fight against the free media as the radical group of Al-Shabab want journalists to work on their ideology.

"I would tell the hardliners that they can not stop the continuing freedom of press until journalists confirm thier independence without any intimidation and harassment,"said Alasow.

He urged all the free Radio stations in Somalia to go off air and make nation wide funeral for late Saed Tahlil, who was veteran journalist and has been in the field for more than 20 years.
