    The associated Somali Journalists ASOJ is condemning Somalia's transitional government for failing to protect journalists.

The associated Somali Journalists ASOJ is condemning Somalia's transitional government for failing to protect journalists.
ASOJ Chairman Dahir Alasow said it was appalled by an alleged murder attempt on Jafar Mohammed Kukay acting manager of a now-closed Somali radio station survived an assassination 

The attack on Jafar Kukay was carried out by an unidentified man, who pulled out a pistol from under his shirt and fired at him twice but failed to hit him

Radio Shabelle has been off the air for more than a week, since police and intelligence officers opened fire on its headquarters in Mogadishu.


ASOJ protested what it called the arbitrary arrest of Somali journalists, including three arrested in the past few days in the provinces of Puntland and Hiran.

ASOJ says also The transitional federal government's failure to take action in these circumstances in incomprehensible." 

At least seven journalists have been killed in Somalia this year. 

ASOJ  protests against the failure of federal and local authorities to protect independent journalists
