Mogadishu 18 August 2009
The Chairman of the Association of Somali Journalists Dahir
Abdulle Alasow, has heartily thanked the Somali president Sheikh Shariff Sheikh
Ahmed and his Prime Minister Omar Abdirshid Ali Sharmarke, for giving keen
consideration for the appeal of the Somali journalists.
“The taking of the Ministerial post from the
former Minister for Information my brother Farhan Ali Gaban is indicating how
serious the top Somali government officials are giving absolute consideration to
the request of the Somali journalists, I am sure my Frahan had no adequate
knowledge or experience to hold any Ministerial post” said Dahir Abdulle Alasow
the Chairman of the Association of Somali Journalists.
Mr. Alasow has
also made clear that there is no divergence, but him and the ex-Minister Farhan.
“In fact I was not completely pleased with the conduct of my friend
Farahn, he was a man of corruption, to make clear he has given the
responsibility of the Ministry to his nephew, who is merely a primary level,
despite there are hundreds of veteran journalist in the city who are currently
have no tangible job to do and need to be employed in the Ministry, I personally
contacted the Minister and asked him to resign the Ministerial post for he
doesn’t have sufficient knowledge to administer the Ministry, but answered me
that he is on chair on tribal base sharing among the Somali community, and hence
the Association of Somali Journalists have written a condemnation latter to the
top government officials, and manifested all the faults he has committed against
the Somali journalists as whole, and fortunately the government t has endorsed
our request “ said Dahir Abdulle Alasow the Chairman of the Association of
Somali Journalists.
The Chairman of ASOJ has also said that they will be
focusing on the activities of the new Minister and how he is going to manage his
post.
On the other hand the Chairman of ASOJ has said that there will be
a new radio station which will be on probably this week.
“I am urging
the Minister for information Dahir Mohamud Gelle to instantly create job
opportunities for the Somali journalist who are wandering in the city, and
cannot work in the private owned radios because of fear and threats” added the
Chairman of ASOJ Mr. Alasow
