Briefing
The Associated Somali journalists (ASOJ) has achieved a
major goal since it has been launched and opened a large media institute in the
capital Mogadishu where people lacked such a media institute.
On 15th December 2006, ASOJ authorities have officially
opened the institute which enables Media profession interested Somalis to
experience in Media education outlets.
This institute namely New Era institute of Journalism
training is part of great efforts strived by Associated Somali Journalists
(ASOJ) and has the ability to train 150 students per two years, any graduate
from the institute will obtain two years Diploma.
New Era institute of Journalism training has well
experienced trainees in the field of Journalism; they came from different parts
of the world including Kenya, Somalia, Uganda, India and others.
Well arranged opening ceremony has been held on 15th
December participating by concerned parties of the community including Media
bodies in the country as well as Islamic courts head of information.
New Era institute of Journalism has also other sub
branches in Somali regions where people need Media education.
Most of registered students are so far female while their
number exceeds 56, 45 of them girls.
ASOJ president, Dahir Abdulle Alasow
said in a speech at the opening ceremony that his Organisation is in search of
getting better future for Somali Journalists giving priority in capacity
building.
The institute is founded with the assistance of local
individuals who gave more time in developing Media in Somali country.
