    ASOJ condemns the detained journalists in Somaliland

ASOJ CONDEMNS

Mogadishu (ASOJ.ORG) The Associated Somali Journalists has condemned the constantly mistreatment against the independent journalist of Somaliland after the Somaliland authority has arrested a journalist in Borama and Las’anod.

ASOJ has stated that the Somaliland had arrested in Boramatwo journalists named Mohamed Omar Hayne and Ali Ismael Areon 11-01-2012. In addition, the Borama court has sentenced as unfair a Somaliland journalist called Yusuf Abdi Alifrom Royal TV on 10-01-2012.

On the other hand, on 09-01-2012 the Somaliland soldiers arrested in Las’anodthree journalists named Abdikhani Hassan Farah from Universal TV,Barkhad Omar Abdi and Abdirahman Ali Du’ale from Horn Caple TV. Meanwhile, they were threatened for their jobs without crime in order to cease their work.

I suggest to the international community and the organizations who give support the Somaliland authority to stop the giving hand to the Silanyo authority in order to embargo an international pressure” said Mr. Dahir Alasowthe chairman of ASOJ.

Mr. Dahir Alasow has pointed out that the independent media of Somaliland has made voiceless, and he also mentioned that the most ill-treatment of the journalist occur in Sool and Awdal regions.

ASOJ has asked to the human rights organizations to show responsibility to protect the rights and freedom of Somalia journalist. Mute, introverted 

Associated Somali Journalists (ASOJ) has demonstrated in press release that Somaliland government rejected to act on its institutions and stooping of the mistreatment against the independent media. 

 ASOJ thanks to the Somaliland journalists Associations “SOLJA” who offer more effort to advocacy the rights of the journalists.
