Somalia’s political cartoonist Amin Amir Mohamed and journalist Dahir Abdulle Alasow became the most hated in Somalia between the years 2006 to 2009 for their publication of paintings and sensitive articles defying the radicalism by the Islamists in the horn of Africa’s war-torn nation ‘Somalia’. http://www.mareeg.com/fidsan.php?sid=15662&tirsan=3.


 

Amin Amir began publishing his caricatures over the violations done by the Islamic Courts Union soon after their takeover the control of south-central Somalia.
Amir’s political cartoons on the facts on the ground are the most viewed and interested in and outside of Somalia as his official website www.aminarts.com became one of the widely visited Somali sites.
Dahir Abdulle Alasow, who runs the website of www.waagacusub.com was the first professional journalists that wrote about the start of Islamist extremism of Al-Shabaab from 2006 to 2010. Many Somalis disgusted Alasow for his articles showing the imminent risks from the support of Al-Shabaab and discovering the real name of Al-Shabaab’s militant leader Ahmed Abdi Aw Mohamud Godane who called himself as (Sheik Mukhtar Abu-Zubeyr).

The public support to Islamic insurgency in Somalia caused widespread abhorrence to the cartoonist Amin Amir and journalist Dahir Alasow but in 2010 they drawn the intention most Somalis because of their publishes as their websites became the most interested.
The Al-Qaeda linked group of Al-Shabaab threatened to kill Alasow and Amir but both men are still safe and live in Netherlands and Canada.
Alasow’s website www.waagacusub.com became the most logged on site by Somalis for its coverage over insightful news stories on the current and futures events.
Two years ago, Al-Shabaab militants banned people under their uncontrolled areas from viewing waagacusub site as several people including journalists were killed for suspicion of working with Waagacusub media.
Some people believe that Alasow as man linking to Somalia’s top intelligence officers because of the documents published such the suicide bomber in Shamow Hotel in Mogadishu on 3 December 2009.
Dahir Alasow brings out factual news, articles and predictions on the political situation in Somalia as the current president Sharif Sheik Ahmed who was presaged by Alasow as he was the man allotted for the leadership of Somalia.
