ASOJ.ORG - The Associated Somali Journalists released a statement in which the head of the East and Horn of Africa Human Rights Defenders Project (EHAHRDP) accused of conspiring with those assassinating the Somali journalists. " Hassan Shire, who claims to be the head of the East and Horn of Africa Human Rights Defenders Project (EHAHRDP) became a sign of tribalism and corruption, who uses the donated money for the executions of the journalists," reads the ASOJ Press Release.
The group condemned what they called an "inhumane acts" against Somali journalists perpetrated by Hassan Ali Gesey and Mohamed Bakistan with the help of Hassan Shire.
Mr Shire proved to be contrary to what he claims (Human rights defender) as he is silent on the crimes against the journalists and IDPs in Mogadishu, Somalia, said in the ASOJ report.
"Shabaab's terror masterminders and journalist killers, Hassan Ali Gesey and Mohamed Bakistan, will be held accountable for the killing of the journalists and their websites will be taken all necessary measures in response to their propaganda spreading. And surely, Mr Shire will that day appear to defend their illegal actions, and the World will soon learn it," said Dahir Alasow, the Chairperson of the group.
The ASOJ Chairperson calls on the international community not to support Mr Shire and his NGO team.
Hassan Shire supports the president of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on clan basis and when it comes to event visas offered by human rights groups and journalism organisations he either gives to his clansmen or them up to $ 30.000, added Alasow.
Mr Shire opposed the campaign that the international community and stakeholders waged to release the political prisoner, Ali Yare Werder from the illegal government cell. And he submitted a false news to the rights groups, a report which was contrary to the one he was detained which probably is opposing President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud's national policy.
"ASOJ calls on all Somali journalists a meeting which we will host as soon as possible to discuss ways that we can prevent the atrocities, tribalism and the endless corruption," ASOJ said in the statement.
